Adoptive Parent Evaluation
The decision to adopt a child is one of the most important of your life. It is a time of tremendous excitement and considerable stress. I recognize this and attempt to make the adoptive parent evaluation as easy, convenient, and stress free as possible. My goal is not to be a stumbling block on your path to adoption but to determine if there are mental health concerns that may need to be addressed before proceeding with adoption. This is to safeguard the interests of the adoptive child as well as the adoptive parent.
In my practice, the psychological evaluation of an adoptive parent typically involves a comprehensive interview, the administration of a true/false questionnaire (the MMPI-2-RF) and, occasionally, a review of pertinent records. The evaluation usually takes place over 3-4 hours. The fee is $750 per parent and includes feedback as well as a written report explaining the findings. These are usually available within 7 to 10 business days from the date of assessment. Appointments are often available within 14 business days.
If you are a prospective adoptive parent and are interested in receiving an adoptive parent psychological evaluation, please contact me for additional information and available appointment times. Weekend and evening hours are available.
